Who am I?

Namaste, my name is Irma Nazario Muñiz. Seeking a better understanding of the meaning and purpose of this life, I studied Philosophy of Religion at King’s College, University of London in UK. The degree gave me the opportunity to teach at various universities in Puerto Rico, Dubai, and Morocco. At the same time, I kept exploring other philosophies and ways of thinking until I re-discovered yoga while living in Dubai in 2000. Being in the area, I was able to travel to countries like India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, which offered excellent opportunities for spiritual growth and the practice of real yoga.

Finally, in September 2006, I lived and studied in an ashram (a yoga community) in Mumbai, India, The Yoga Institute, the oldest organized yoga center in the world. In March 2007, I earned my first yoga teacher training course certificate (TTC). Here, I studied classical yoga, therapeutic yoga, and the philosophies of yoga, besides learning and practicing yoga techniques like asanas, pranayamas, trataka, kriyas… Most importantly, I studied and worked at the same time in the ashram, teaching and helping in health camps (heart, diabetes, mental disorders), and workshops for the elderly, children, teenagers, 21 days yoga wellness workshops, stress management, corporate yoga… Living in India also gave me a profound insight into life.

That experience changed my life. I knew I wanted to be more involved in Yoga and in September 2008, found Agama Yoga in the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand. Joining Agama and staying till the middle of 2014, graduating from the hatha and kundalini programs, becoming an Agama teacher, and participating in the everyday life of an Agama member, opened new roads, perspectives, and goals in my life. Besides excellent tantra, hatha, and kundalini programs, Agama offers diverse workshops, retreats, festivals, and celebrations, like The Art of Dying, Yoga and Astrology, Mystical Dance, Kashmiri Shaivism, Naturopathy and Yoga, Tibetan Yoga, Chiropractic Yoga, Hridaya Meditation…

What can you expect in my classes?
You can expect a combination of kundalini, tantra, hatha, and classical yoga. We maintain the yoga poses (asanas) for longer times and focus our attention in our centers of energy ( chakras), and in the sublimation and circulation of our vital energy throughout our bodies. We work at balancing, flexing and strengthening our physical and mental bodies while feeding our fascia. We practice increasing our concentration and diminishing our stress. We also reflect on the benefits of the individual asanas, pranayamas, meditations, kriyas, bandhas…

For me, a yoga practice is a time that I have to be with myself and the universe within me, free of worries and pressures. One of my objectives is that you will experience that fusion, while exercising, moving your energy, breathing healthy, unblocking knots, feeling and being stronger and healthier, relaxing, increasing aerobic capacity and inner awareness…

I have extensive experience as a teacher, teaching yoga in Puerto Rico, India, Morocco, and through Skype. I also have experience in therapeutic yoga, teaching regular yoga and chair yoga to patients with medical conditions, such as cancer and multiple sclerosis. Besides, I’ve also worked in corporate yoga; practitioners burn stress and tension in a healthy way, which benefits both employees and employers.

As a yoga teacher, I have the highest certification that Yoga Alliance bestows, E-RYT 500.

“ Mysteriously, wonderfully, I bid farewell to what goes, I greet what comes; for what comes cannot be denied, and what goes cannot be detained.” ~ Chuang-Tzu

“I have enjoyed and benefited greatly from practicing yoga with Irma for over 10 years, in Dubai and in Thailand and now through distance yoga over Skype from Stockholm. Our sessions have always been a pleasure and of great value to me and those who were fortunate to join.

With her great accomplishments and training at the higher levels in yoga and her natural teaching talents , Irma is a great and sympathetic teacher who transfers her love and dedication to her students to gain full knowledge of perfect yoga positions and practices. She is very precise in explaining not only on how to achieve good positions but also breathing technique, trataka, meditations and other yoga techniques.

I highly recommend joining Irma in her direct or remote sessions.”

“Irma Nazario offered me Agama Yoga Level 5 in Puerto Rico, after I have taken levels 1 to 4 in Koh Phangan, Thailand. It was very rewarding and I learned a lot. We are currently practicing yoga five days a week from 6 to 8am. I am certified in Hridaya Yoga and meditation and have learned a lot working with her which has also helped my individual practice. Irma knows a lot and has a lot to offer.

You learn about cleaning your body, healing, and strengthening your health through the various asanas, and most importantly the non-cognitive experience with your divine self in meditation. It’s so much more than mere exercises. Irma is an excellent teacher and the amount of learning is enormous.”
